Sony PSP Custom Firmware 4.01M33, 4.01M33-2

As promised by Dark Alex and the M33 team, the newest custom firmware will be released this week and as promised, it has hits the interwebs right now. I am currently downloading the file and will try to update my psp as soon as possible.

Here are the readme file for CFW 4.01M33

4.01 M33

Instructions: Copy UPDATE folder /PSP/GAME/ and run.
Put the 4.01 sony update as 401.PBP in same folder, or let the program download it for you using a wifi connection.

Changes:
- Bug fix: vshmenu didn’t let change camera mode due to camera_plugin using select button.
Fixed, now vsh menu will not be loaded when using the camera.

- Recovery can now be translated, See how below. Translation to spanish is autoincluded.
- Updated the M33 SDK with a new function and sample, and released the psp-packer tool to
compress prx’s and PBP’s in the ~PSP format.

- The folder of 4.01 and highre homebrew will be GAME4XX so it won’t need change on update.

Taanslating the recovery.
To translate the recovery create a text file in ms0:/seplugins/xx_recovery.txt
or flash1:/xx_recoery.txt (they are evaluated in that order), where xx is the language code 
of your language:

es -> spanish
en -> english
fr -> french
de -> german
it -> italian
ja -> japanese
ko -> korean
nl -> netherlands
pt -> portuguese
ru -> russian
ch1 -> chinese simplified
ch2 -> chinese traditional

The file en_recovery.txt in translate folder is included for people to translate to their languages, this file is not needed for english people, as the english language is used when no language file is found.
Just change the english strings to your language ones, and put it in the path mentioned above. Be careful to check in the recovery that the lines look fine, don’t use too large text.

The spanish file es_recovery.txt will be written by the program in the memory stick.

Sony PSP Official Firmware 4.01 Update

Got this news via playstation tweet. Maybe a minor changes focused only bugs. Got another thing todo fisrt but here is the quote from the official blog

Hey everyone, here’s a quick heads up that a new PSP system software update, v4.01, will be released soon. This minor update includes the following:

• Display of search results under Internet Search has been improved for certain languages.
• Playback of video content under Video has been improved for certain file types.

Look for this update to become available during the next few hours.

June 25, 2008 (Wednesday) to update the system software version 4.01 is now available.

Its kinda a late announcement from me. Yes, you heard it right, the newest fw from sony have reached 4.00. It was released on 18 of June 2008. Some of the changes

A search on the Internet

Enter a keyword search for them on the Internet. Search results page is automatically displayed.

[Use]

1. (Network) (Internet search) to choose.
2. (New search) to choose.
   Keyboard will appear.
3. I want to enter a keyword search, the confirmation].
   Connected to the Internet, the search results are displayed.

・Past history of the search icon. Icon and select the same keyword search again.
・Recent history is up to 20 keywords are displayed.

Changing the speed of play

Memory Stick Duo ™ video saved on when you play, you can change the playback speed. Leave natural pitch, 0.5 times to 2 times change.

To record one-segment broadcast programs to see if this kind of use,

• News shows and sports programs, much faster time to play
• Language program that pops into the sound heard listening to strengthen

[Use]

1. During the video, △ button.
2. From the control panel (Playback speed (+)) or (Playback speed (-)) to choose.
   To choose the icon each time, the speed at which Options. ［ When you return to the original speed, the speed displayed on the screen to x1.0］

・▲／▼ During the video ARROW ▲ / ▼ When you press the playback speed of change. ▲▼ ▲ to press the playback speed is faster, ▼ to press and play speed.

On the homebrew scene, some team have successfully decrypt the 4.00 prx files. Many changes on some of the modules.

PSP v4.00 Update

From the official blog of Playstation.Blog , some minor adjustment to XMB menu on psp. they add google directed to xmb. here are the quote

This new upgrade replicates the Google Internet search experience, delivering the same search results that you’d get at www.google.com. And with a search history recall of 20 items, Web searches couldn’t be easier.

After you download and install the firmware on your PSP, click on the XMB’s Network icon and then the new Internet Search icon. Enter your keywords and then let Google’s algorithms do the work. You’ll need to be connected to the Internet via a wireless access point or Wi-Fi hotspot. Googling something on the go has never been more convenient on your PSP.

Another new feature delivered through the 4.00 update is the ability to change viewing speed during playback of videos stored on your Memory Stick PRO Duo, so you can speed through or slow down what you’re watching. To do this simply press the up or down directional buttons while playing a video. Enjoy!
