Comparison Price of iPhone 4 Malaysia vs Singapore

So it has landed, the iPhone 4. All are happy lining up to get their ‘first’ of 60 in Malaysia. I live in Johor Bahru (JB) and people always ask me about the price of iPhone in SG and they said it cheaper and even push me to buy it for them.

Here is the breakdown of the price of iPhone in Malaysia and Singapore

    Malaysia iPhone 4 16GB - RM2290 (unlock) *by Maxis

    Singapore iPhone 4 16GB - SGD888 (unlock) *from Apple Store - roughly about RM2073

So it is cheap to buy in Singapore, but not adding the cost of travelling down south (for KL people), toll, ERP, parking in Singapore that could add up the bar with the price in Malaysia.

And ONE MORE THING. You have to be a Permanent Resident (PR) or having a working permit of Singapore to buy those phone on any Service Provider (Singtel, M1, Starhub). You can also avoid this and jump straight to Sim Lim and buy the phone there (dunno the price there).

My RM0.02, just buy it here from Maxis, you will save so many hair if you have to deal with the warranty later.

Life Update 04: Singapore, Raya, iPhone 3G

On saturday evening, my brother smsed me wether wanna go singapore? Sure! It been 8 years since my last visit to Singapore. Why? There is no more limited passpport (remember blue passport?). Nowadays, have to apply for international passport which it cost a bomb. Me, wifey and baby boy. Total damage RM750.

So on Sunday morning, we head to Singapore, with no plan. no singapore money, no autopass. Had to buy AutoPass at Red Lane, my brother exchange money with the people he bumped to. After that, we head to BKE and exit to Bukit Panjang for raya visits. Luckily some part of HDB got free parking on Sunday, but one of my cousins live in Lompang Rd and have to pay parking. Aiya!. We have no parking tickets (remember? no plan). So I suggest my brother that we park in the near shopping complex ( I cant barely remember the name ). Simple just, take receipt and walk about 2 mins to the flat. So after eat and borak, we asked my cousins on how to pay the parking ticket? she said must have cashcard or IU. Aiyo, no cashcard, what to do? So we walked to the shopping complex and went to some pharmacies and ask at the cashier counter, where to buy cashcard? the lady said it only sell at 7 eleven. damn. now have to find 7e summo. My brother then asked the Counter Information, then she said that Malaysian, can use the autopass to pay. what a relief. so we went down to the carpark and get the autopass, check balance only got sgd 4.00, the parking fee is sgd1.90, so we went out and pick my mom, wifey and awal, head to next and last stop for raya visits.

Next stop, orchards rd. with the pack of shopping complex, takashimaya, wisma atria, lucky plaza and so on. We parked at Masjid Al-Falah, and walk down to the shopping complex. First we head to Takashimaya and do some window shopping. Me and wifey are in the middle of buying awal a baby walker. we search hi and lo, there is no baby products at takashimaya and wisma atria. Then we head to Lucky Plaza. Wah… it products and perfume in a cheap-cheap price. If convert to malaysian ringgit still cheap. What caught my eyes, is iPhone 3G. It all on the display of all the shops. Then I asked some of the shop.

Me : Bro, how much arr the price of iPhone 3G?
    Shop Guy : SGD 1150.
Me : Is is unlocked or you unlocked it yourself.
Shop Guy : It came unlock maaa, why do we want to unlock it.
    Me : Really? damn.

When I am about to leave, the Shop Guy lowered the price.

    Shop Guy : SGD 1050.

Just walk away and smile. wah unlocked version of iPhone 3g, legal sold for only SGD 1050. convert it, only RM 2,496.77. Still ok maa. Then I browse another store, selambe they reply SGD 1000. I think if I bargain will get aorund SGD950. tempted. Shops is about to close and we back to the carpark and head back to Johor Bahru. The causeway is clear. Touchdown at JB around 10.15PM. We passed out when reached home.
