Fine Tuning your P1 Wi-Max Connections
Recently, P1 is doing some major ‘upgrading’ on their network all Malaysia. The not so best part is, it is affecting my normal connection. Before this, I have to put the modem somewhere under the sofa and it has a good green signal. But then after the upgrade, it is still blinking and cannot make a connection at all.
I fired up my twitter and make a complaint to @P1Cares on saturday. Suprisingly, they reply and doing some q&a with me. And they made a call on the evening and guided me thru to get a better signals.
So here are some tips I gatherd and want to share with you guys out there.
1. Check your coverage map on P1, should you position your modem towards the compass.
2. Check your Fair Usage Policy (FUP) on P1 Self Care websites. Log in with your username and password, check whether it is still available or not. (20GB)
3. If your account is okay and Active, just try changing the dns to something that it is not P1 DNS, like 208.67.222.222, or 8.8.8.8
4. If it still not okay, log on to your modem and check the TX Power. I am not expert at this but the representative from P1 said that make sure the value is between -10 and 10. That it is where you can get the ‘stable’ connection. My value was max (27.50), and I have to change the location again where it can get the lower value, min I can get 14~15 which it is still okay.
So, try this first and if it still problem, just call P1 careline and ask them to send the technical team to troubleshoot the problem
No, this is not a paid advertising from P1, just want to share the knowledge that I’ve gain through the process.
